Project: Human body practice
After completing my experimental head on Mudbox I decided to take a step further in the human body. This is where the challenge of perfect anatomy is required to make this project a professional piece of work. Again I used one of the default bases in Mudbox called "Human body mesh." This give me a kick start in the sculpting that avoids stretching a box to form a body.
Starting off I used a picture of the mussel anatomy as reference in my sculpture. With the sculpt tool I began with an inverse stroke laying out the body with rough areas for the mussels. Using this process lightly I gone through the entire body, arms and legs. Then making a new layer I sculpted the mussels to stand out; creating depth and mass.
The pictures you see are the finished project after I defined the body and mussels. I also sculpt another head on the body mesh; after thinking back on areas I could improve on, I'd say this one is an improvement. More natural, nothing out of place and you may not see it but the lips are opened apart.
My final thoughts to the project is that I've done very well in a short time space of 3 to 4 hours. I learned new ways to sculpt the human body and improved my sculpting skills with the head and face. What I can say about improving is: The body needs a texture to finish the image of realism. Some of the mussels are not meant to be shown though the skin like this; what I mean is I need a reference of a human diagram instead of a mussel diagram. And as for the head I need to be careful with the amount of wrinkles I add into the face. It gives the modal age but I want to make my character more youthful.
But still practice makes perfect and this was I great piece of work and I'm pleased with my performance over two days.
